6 Surefire Signs You Need Detox

Detoxification, cleansing, toxins, these words seem to be creeping into the mainstream conversation more and more lately, but with little insight on what really works. Are there signs you should look for (we found six), and with all the talk about saunas, colonics, juicing, detox diets and supplements, what is right for you?

Why Do I Need to Detox?

It’s no longer a matter of debate. Countless studies of blood and even breast milk show that people living in the most remote and pristine parts of the planet have some level of toxicity. The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) even tracks this exposure and found an average of 212 environmental chemicals in our blood. Yes, everyone needs to detox.

 

 

In the span of just a few generations, an estimated 80,000 new chemicals have been unleashed upon us, the many dangers of which are outlined in a special report by TIME magazine.

At one time our bodies were actually able to detox on their own and clean out the unwanted substances naturally, but with all the pollution in the air, water and our food, our bodies simply cannot keep up at our natural rate of detoxification. Only recently have we woken up to this fact.

So how do you know if you should detox? Odds are you’re pretty darn toxic.

But I Don’t Feel Toxic?

Sure you do. You just don’t realize it. You’ve probably even noticed the symptoms, but you’ve either chosen to ignore them or just chalked them up to being normal with age. Do any of these six signs sound familiar to you?

1. Do you often feel sluggish or tired?

2. Do you have trouble sleeping through the night?

3. Do you tend to catch cold easily or have frequent headaches?

4. Are you bloated?

5. Lethargic?

At least, it doesn’t have to be if you detox regularly. See our bodies go into overdrive working to protect us from the overwhelming amount of toxic materials we ingest on a daily basis. What Detox Method is Right for Me?

There are a lot of different protocols for detoxing including:

  • Sweating it out in a sauna (effective yes, portable not so much)
  • Colonics (extremely thorough, not particularly pleasant)
  • Juicing (a great method, unless the fruits and veggies carry pesticides)
  • Zeolite (practical, portable, comfortable, safe AND you get to keep your clothes on!)
