Achieving Peak Performance

As a competitive athlete I know that there is a science to nutrition for pre-working training and post-workout recovery. While I haven’t figured it all out I can tell you what’s working for me.

I admit I didn’t always pay attention to nutrition.

Growing up in South Africa I spent hours surfing, sailing and swimming and could always just bounce right back. But as you move into your 30s you realize how important healthy eating is to recovery and results.

That’s when I started making some changes. At first I stopped eating meat, and found I felt much better and could still compete at a high level.

Over time my athletics evolved too. After years competing as a professional lifeguard, I sailed around the world and settled in South Florida where I took up competitive kite surfing.

An injury led me to discover stand up paddleboard, a sport that was just at its beginning stages. Stand up paddleboard (or SUP) was a perfect fit. It combined my love of water with a sport that was low impact.

How nutrition makes a difference.

Now that I’m in my early 40s and have been doing SUP for eight years I can really tell the difference the right nutrition makes. When you are eating clean with all the right fruits and veggies you can stay in great shape even when you are not working out.

While I make healthy eating a priority, it’s tough to figure out how to get enough of the nutrition you need. That’s where Super Green Juice has helped.

I’ve tried other green juices before but most didn’t taste good, were hard to get down and were really hard on my gut, creating a lot of discomfort. Super Green Juice is different. I feel good and it is really easy on my gut. I just add a scoop to my morning or evening smoothie.

With so many organic foods inside, I know I’m getting the right nutrients. I really like that there is no added sugar and I was surprised that it tastes fine even just mixing with water. Now before a race I have a smoothie and add in Super Green Juice and I feel energized.

Whether you are an athlete or just want to stay active, getting the right nutrition is one step we all need to look after our bodies. At the end of the day it’s all about being healthy.
